Which class do you usually attend? Ladies night, KB class, Wednesday and the Grinder.
How did you find out about CrossFit? Christina K, took her about 6 months to sell me on it. Then someone gave me a gift cert for the fundamentals and I was hooked.
Did you play sports back in the day? Or was it all smoking butts under the bleachers? I played basketball and ran cross country, balanced with smoking butts on the side
How has CrossFit changed your life outside of the gym? I have more will power now then I’ve ever had. I take a closer look at what I put into my body and have realized that I’m overall a better person when I eat right and can keep my brain focused.
What and/or who motivates/inspires you? Kara and Christina are probably my two biggest inspirations. I have never before met two women who accomplish being amazing humans then those two. Their inspiration wants me to make sure I get it right. “It” can be anything from overcoming a fear, realizing a dream or just enjoying a simple moment.
Name one goal/personal achievement you would like to achieve with the gains made through CrossFit? This will be my last year of rowing, so I would like to get my name on the trophy one last time. I also want to be a better hiker, last year we went on a trip and it was a wake up call. I want to have the stamina and energy to enjoy and not be cursing that last mile up (and down). That hike was what motivated me to be a more consistent member. Lastly, I look forward to getting into a run routine. We had one two years ago and it was a great place to be mentally and physically.
What are your hobbies outside of CrossFit? I’ve recently taken up book binding. It’s the first artsy thing I’ve taken on that doesn’t drive me batty.
What’s your favorite aspect of CFCA? The community and the programming. I like walking into the gym, always having at least 1 or 5 or 12 buddies to work out with. I don’t have to think about the workout, it’s all there for me. Coaches are always there to lend an ear or motivation or advice. It’s an amazing place to be a part of.
CFCA favorite memory? The first time I did Not Your Average Joes. We had 3 teams from CFCA and it was a really fun time. I was just getting to know everyone and watching the coaches team was really inspiring.
Any tips for the new members? Drink the kool aid, get to know people and do the WODs you hate the most. Track your progress. It’s all worth it.
