Which class do you usually attend? 5:30 am. It’s the best way to start the day!
How did you find out about CrossFit? Wow! That brings back memories. I remember it perfectly…. I was babysitting for my homies coach Jaime and Tim. When they came home we had an hour-long conversation about Crossfit. I went to the next community workout and fell in love!
Did you play sports back in the day? Or was it all smoking butts under the bleachers? I’ve been pretty active my whole life. In high school I played baseball, football, and ran track. I played Rugby and intermural football in college. Now I’m all washed up and play men’s softball, flag football, golf, surf, and attempt to snowboard.
How has CrossFit changed your life outside of the gym? CrossFit has taught me a lot of things. The most important is to get outside your comfort zone. Since I joined CrossFit back in 2013 I picked up three new sports (golf, surfing, and snowboarding), accomplished the Spartan Trifecta, been apart of multiple races/ competitions, and JUMPED OUT OF A PLANE!
What and/or who motivates/inspires you? I say it all the time, every member at CFCA motivates me. Especially the older members. I hope when I’m their age I’m in the shape they are in!
Name one goal/personal achievement you would like to achieve with the gains made through CrossFit? I have a couple goals I would like to accomplish within the next 6 months. One is being able to clean and jerk 225LBS and the other is to beat Coach Chris in Bikini Speedo Dodgeball again!
What are your hobbies outside of CrossFit? I am a big fan of living an active life! Whether it is trying to touch my toes during yoga, shanking drives on the golf course, trying not to embarrass myself surfing, or trying to keep up with Polish Michal’s 4 minute miles. I enjoy it all (most of the time)!
What’s your favorite aspect of CFCA? Easily the CrossFit community! CFCA has an extremely uplifting and supportive community.
CFCA Favorite Memory? That’s a tough one, there are so many great memories! The one that stands out the most has to be our first annual CFCA guys night.
Any tips for the new members? A couple things..Don’t compare yourself to others, carbs are not the enemy, good form over heavy weight, and know where the bathrooms are. Also remember to “Do something today, that your future body will thank you for”
