Occupation outside of being a crossfit champ:
Senior Claims Analyst for TRU Services, LLC – in short, I adjudicate catastrophic/high dollar medical claims for individuals insured by self-funded large employer groups

Hometown: Rockport, MA but spent a few years in Colorado, Arizona and Texas.

Favorite workout:
Hmmm, that’s tough…I’d probably have to say Cindy or Glen. Had the chance to tackle Glen for the first time this Veteran’s Day – it felt amazing and horrible all at the same time. Those types of WODS are the best for my psyche lol.

Favorite Lift:  Power Cleans

Which class do you usually attend?
Usually a 5:30 pm-er (whoop whoop!) on whatever days I can get there

How did you find out about crossfit?
I first found out about CrossFit from Jaime MacDonald but Jodi Frithsen and Emily Silva were one’s that actually got me in the door. Big thanks to all three ladies!!

Did you play sports back in the day? Or was it all smoking butts under the bleachers? 
I’d like to think I was a pretty athletic kid growing up but it kind of stopped once I hit middle/high school. In CO we spent a lot of time in the woods, hiking, camping, drinking and smoking the wacky tobacky. But we moved around a lot so it was kind of hard to get into the sports scene. I did play a mean game of floor hockey in gym class though, lol.

How has Crossfit changed your life outside of the gym?
First thing that comes to mind is the change in my eating habits – I cringe at the thought of some of the shit I used to put in my body. I still have a weakness for Swedish fish, I know it’s wrong, but it feels so right. Oh and I almost forgot – it’s also made my every day life easier. Not having to ask for help to lift or move something is pretty liberating. I take a lot of pride in being able to carry a trunk load of groceries into the house in one trip :)

What and/or who motivates/inspires you?
Stress is a huge motivator lol. But really, other people inside the gym are a huge motivator and inspiration. Seeing people set goals, work hard and do things that they never thought they could is a pretty awesome thing.

Name one goal/personal achievement you would like to achieve with the gains made through Crossfit?
Team Rowgue 2014 Ladies Seine Boat Champs!

What are your hobbies outside of Crossfit?
What if CrossFit is my hobby? lol., Besides CF, I just enjoy time with my family and friends, snuggling with the dog, running, reading and cooking.

What’s your favorite aspect of CFCA? The community, hands down.

Any tips for the new members?
Just be patient and have fun with it. Don’t worry about what the guy/girl next to you is doing, just focus on learning the movement and the rest will come. And definitely go to the WODS that contain your weaknesses. You can’t avoid them forever, and the more you do it the easier it gets :).
